ITK is committed to the “4 for 1000” Initiative by joining the Forum.

The international “4 per 1000” Initiative, launched by France on 1 December 2015 at COP 21, consists of bringing together all voluntary public and private actors. The initiative aims to show that agriculture, and in particular agricultural soils, can play a crucial role in food security and climate change.
“4 per 1000” → An annual growth rate of 0.4% of soil carbon stocks, or 4‰ per year, in the first 30 to 40 cm of soil, would significantly reduce the concentration of greenhouse gases responsible for climate change in the atmosphere.

This Global Initiative aims to bring together, within several colleges, the skills of all the players in the ecosystem …
– state and local authorities
– international bodies
– Donors (public and private)
– farmers’ and foresters’ organisations
– research and teaching
– civil society, associations and NGOs
– private firms

ITK is part of the college of private companies, and contributes to the exchange of skills between Research and agronomic steering tools to respond to two problems:
– How to increase soil organic matter content?
– How to improve carbon sequestration in the soil?

Based on its international experience and proven agronomic models for irrigation and crop fertilization management, itk, as a partner of Initiative #4p1000, is committed to implementing its tools through new carbon indicators to promote the transition towards high-performance, resilient and above all sustainable agriculture.
